All Along The Wall

21The Directors of Brampton Live Festival are thrilled to announce a new and exciting project for 2010. We are delighted to be supported in this project by Hadrian’s Wall Heritage Ltd and The PRS Foundation for New Work. We are also in discussions with two other major sponsors. BBC Radio 2 has also agreed to cover the project at some point during the year.

The project is called “All Along The Wall” and will be based on the experiences of life around Hadrian’s Wall both ancient and modern. We will have eight internationally known performers (5 songwriters and 3 performance poets) who will stay together for a week near to the wall where they will write a 75 min piece of new work.

On the evening of Sunday 31st January 2010 at The Wave Centre, Maryport they will perform the piece for the first time to a live audience.

This performance will be recorded by Fellside Recordings and an album will be produced which will be commercially distributed by “Proper Distribution”. Tickets for the premiere of “All Along The Wall” are available from The Wave Centre, Maryport (box office number 01900 811450).

The piece will be performed again at Brampton Live Festival in July and for a third time towards the end of the year at The Sage Gateshead, thereby having performances “All Along The Wall”. We are also planning a smaller version of the project, which we hope to tour around village communities in both Cumbria and Northumberland during 2011.
